The Great Lakes Loons have hired veteran broadcaster Jerry O'Donnell as the team's public address announcer. Entertainers Dennis Beson and Nick Cain will be the on-field hosts.
As the public address announcer, Jerry will be the Voice of Dow Diamond, announcing at home games throughout the 2007 season. He has more than 26 years of experience as a broadcaster, working in radio and television across Michigan. Jerry also has worked as an auctioneer, stand-up comedian, musician and actor. For the last 20 years he has been a resident of mid-Michigan. He currently is a television news producer for WNEM-TV5 and an associate radio producer at WNEM News Radio 1250 and wnem.com. Jerry lives in Midland with his wife and two sons.
Dennis Beson and Nick Cain will share the job of on-field host, leading entertainment and promotions within the ballpark. Dennis is the lead singer of the Sinclairs, a local classic rock band, and is also president of D Street Entertainment Foundation, a music education and promotion group designed to highlight the positive impact of music in the area. By day, Dennis is a business services representative for MichiganWorks! in Midland. Dennis lives in Auburn and has two daughters. Nick Cain is assistant creative services director for Citadel Broadcasting in Saginaw, responsible for commercial broadcasting, writing and production. He also works part-time for Sound Production Entertainment at special events. Nick is married and lives in Essexville.
"We are very excited to welcome Jerry, Dennis and Nick to the Loons family," said Loons Assistant General Manager for Promotions and Marketing Chris Mundhenk, who is responsible for hiring gameday entertainment. "We had a deep pool of qualified candidates express interest in these positions, and we feel we've selected a very talented and entertaining trio for these high-profile positions."
With just 21 days until the home opener, ticket packages are still available for Loons home games and start at $68 for an 8-game package. Season tickets are still available as well. Individual tickets are $6 for lawn seats and $8.50 for reserved seats. The Great Lakes Loons are a single-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Dodgers and members of the Midwest League.
