Before applying for a business loan, the local Michigan Small Business & Technology Development Center recommends attending their informational Financing Roundtable seminar. The Financing Roundtable is a free loan orientation session conducted by a business banker, a business consultant from the SBA's network of Small Business & Technology Development Centers, and an SBA representative.

During the roundtable, TEAM SBA will:

  • debunk the myths and demystify the process of small business financing
  • explain how the lending process works and what is expected of you
  • show how the SBA can assist local lenders with its SBA Guaranteed Loan Program.
This session is best suited to those serious about seeking financing for their business, have good credit, a solid business idea, and some money to invest in their business. Because the SBA does not provide loan guarantees to real estate investment firms, including purchasing and rehabbing houses for sale, this type of financing is not discussed at the roundtables.

The roundtable is Friday, March 14, 2008, from 9:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. at Delta College, 1961 Delta Road, H113 (H Wing), University Center and there is no cost to attend. Pre-registration is required by call 989.686.9597.

The MI-SBTDC is a partner program of the U.S. Small Business Administration. This Cooperative Agreement is partially funded by the U.S. Small Business Administration.
