DCECU received an American Cancer Society Award for actively fighting cancer through programs and services.

Dow Chemical Employees' Credit Union (DCECU) was awarded the Five Star Investor Award from the American Cancer Society. The award recognizes organizations that are actively fighting cancer through programs and services.

While working with DCECU's Wellness Committee on a project in 2007, American Cancer Society Representative Betty Torres became aware of all the programs the credit union offers to its employees and the community.

Torres presented the award to DCECU's Jerilyn Schwarz, Human Resource Manager, acknowledging the organization's active role in fighting cancer, and providing workplace solutions and programs to educate its staff and the community about cancer prevention.

To earn recognition as a Five Star Investor, DCECU participates in a variety of American Cancer Society initiatives including providing insurance for cancer screenings and tobacco cessation, participating in the Active for Life program, and having a smoke-free campus.

"We are greatly honored to be recognized for the educational programs and opportunities that we provide our employees and the community promoting cancer awareness," said Schwarz. "DCECU plans to continue to support wellness, cancer prevention and the American Cancer Society."

DCECU is one of the largest credit unions in Michigan, boasting more than 53,600 members and over $1.1 billion in assets.
